Biography
Bryan F. Cranna is a graduate of Hudson High School, Columbia Green
Community College, and Marist College. He is the son of Donald
Cranna, a retired Sergeant of the Hudson Police Police, and Joann
Lewicki, a Registered Nurse.
He is the former Executive Director of Taconic Resources, an
independent living center in Dutchess County. Under Bryan’s tenure
as executive director, the agency saw its outreach grow to serving
more than 24,000 individuals with disabilities a year. The agency
also formed partnerships with other agencies and organizations,
bringing disability awareness to aide in breaking down the barriers
that prevent access and inclusion for persons with disabilities.
In 2004 Bryan left Taconic Resources upon being named
Assistant to the Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature. Bryan
served under then Chairman Brad Kendall until December of 2006, when
Brad Kendall was appointed Dutchess County Clerk by Governor George
Pataki, and Kendall appointed Bryan Deputy County Clerk, a position
he still holds today. Bryan oversees the legal division of the
County Clerk’s office.
Deputy Mayor Cranna was first elected to the Village of
Tivoli Board of Trustees in 2004 and was reelected in 2006, and in
March of 2008, was reelected to a third term. In January 2007 Bryan
was honored to be named Deputy Mayor by Mayor Cordier. He is
responsible for the village’s parks & recreation department,
buildings and grounds, and historic resources. In addition, Bryan
is expected to act as Mayor when the Mayor is unavailable to attend
to his duties.
Under Bryan’s leadership, the recreation committee has begun
a fund drive that will see handicapped accessible playground
equipment placed in the village’s park. This equipment will allow
children with and without disabilities the opportunity to play
together, therefore bringing disability awareness to children at a
young age. Bryan is chairman of Tivoli Day 2009; a village wide
celebration slated for July 2009.
Also under Bryan’s direction, the recreation committee has
begun developing an Activoli program. This program will
promote a walking group through the village, as well as an exercise
program geared towards families. The goal of this program is to
encourage a healthy lifestyle for families, and to encourage
families to take advantage of the many trails and bike paths
throughout the village.
Deputy Mayor Cranna has voted to approve funding for various
projects and programs that help to move Tivoli forward and to ensure
the safety and welfare of the residents. He is proud to have
sponsored a resolution his first year in office that granted a tax
exemption to seniors over the age of sixty five with limited
incomes.
In addition to his governmental roles, Bryan has been
involved with various community agencies and programs. They include
the Red Church Historical Society, Leadership Dutchess, Provoost
Park, Dutchess County Human Rights Commission, Dutchess County
District Attorney’s Crime Victim Sub-Committee, PANDA Television,
Access Dutchess County, Dutchess Health 2000, and the Dutchess
County Developmental Disability Planning Committee.
He and his wife
Christina reside on Woods Road in Tivoli, with their two sons Kieran
and Shane.
